Dark clouds over Devils Dyke

Just took this shot coming back over Devils Dyke at about 3pm today.

I saw the storm clouds building up and getting dark in the north and the sun shining bright behind me was creating a really cool light, so I pulled my truck over and took half a dozen shots while rested on the bonnet @ 1/30/s to add a bit of motion to the picture and this was the best one.

Tower Bridge, London, UK

This picture is probably my favorite so far, it is of the famous Tower Bridge in London.

I set up the tripod in the middle of the road on a traffic island on a busy evening, I can't remember the exact settings on the camera but looking at the star burst effect on the light's in the frame I would guess f18 - f22 and a 30 second exposure @ ISO 100.

First attempt at panning

This picture was one of my first attempts at panning to create motion blur, I had the camera in shutter priority set to 1/30th of a second @ ISO 100 and a wireless flash set up on a tripod to my right.

I am pretty pleased with the outcome, but I know it could be sharper with some more practice!

Light Orb/Light painting

This shot was taken standing in a stream that run's underneath a tunnel that run's under a motorway and was created with the camera on a tripod using a lockable cable release. the Orb was made by spinning a car sidelight bulb on a piece of wire attached to a 12v battery with a switch inline.

I set the camera going and then walked into the shot and began to spin the bulb around, once it was spinning smoothly I switched it on and slowly walked around the rock on the floor for 180 degrees, I then switched the bulb off and walked out of the shot.

Flower in a pub garden

This picture was taken in a pub garden while I was waiting to go to the church for the ceremony, 50mm prime lens - F 1.8 - ISO 100 - 1/2500 second

Homemade panoramic tripod head

This is my first attempt at a homemade tripod head, it is made from a wall plate strap available from most DIY sheds or builders merchants.

I basically got a spare tripod quick release plate replaced the bolt with an longer one and used one of the existing holes in the strap to fix it to the mount, then drilled some extra holes in the piece attached to the camera so adjustment can be made for different cameras and lenses.

I then offered the two pieces together and marked and drilled holes to fix them with washers between for smoother adjustment.

I then trimmed the bar attached to the camera so not to add unnecessary weight to it and tightened everything up with spanners and attached the camera using the original bolt removed from the mounting plate.
